New Home for House of Hope

The children have a new home and a new mother, Salina. They are happy to be reunited. Art and Suzanne returned on Nov. 4 after five and a half weeks in Sierra Leone. They were able to help make arrangements for the new house and lay the groundwork for a water and agriculture project that, surprisingly, has already begun. Please listen to the story of how the children were evicted from the previous house and how God has provided their new home along with wonderful blessings for their school and the village.

House of Hope Mother

When Art and Suzanne met with Salina, they felt that she was handpicked by God for the role of mothering the children at House of Hope. She has a great deal of experience in child care, but more importantly, she believes this is her calling, and she has a lot of ideas and enthusiasm about what God is doing. She had to leave her home and her adult children to move to Lungi, a place she hadn't even visited. Pastor Abdul already reports how much more effectively the home is running now that Salina is in charge. We're so thankful for her. She has a huge responsibility. Please pray for her.

Schools in Tardi

These children at St. Monica's School have their exercise books and pencils, but most students do not have textbooks. This makes learning very difficult, and it is one of the main reasons the school system in Sierra Leone is inadequate. In addition, teachers are paid very little and sometimes go months without receiving their salary. Providing a set of textbooks for one child for one year costs about $25, and the books can be re-used in succeeding years. This is a great investment that can make a long-term difference in the lives of the children and help lift this nation out of poverty.

Art and Suzanne are launching a project to try to get books for the 257 students at St. Monica's School. If you would like to help, please call (309) 736-0840 or email us (suzannepitz@hotmail.com).
